Week at a Glance – May 4- 8

What a wonderful celebration we had on Friday for our Langar donation. Thank you so much for those community members for creating an exciting morning bringing the school together over a meal. We truly appreciate it!

Reminders:

Grade 7 Students

Parent Input Forms

  • As we start planning for next year, it is helpful to get some input from families of information that we might not be privy to.
  • These parent requests are used as suggestions to help us with next year placements, however in the end the administration and classroom teachers make the final decisions.
  • Parents may not choose their child’s teacher.
  • These forms were emailed to you by Ms. Brown and are also at the office if you need a paper copy
  • These forms are due May 8

Track and Field – May 6th

  • An email went home on Thursday to all parents regarding information for the Regional Track Meet happening May 6th
  • All students must be at school no later than 8:15 am
  • We will be walking to ND starting at 8:30.
  • Please read through the email Ms. Bath sent this week

Locked Front Doors

  • A notice went home this week regarding some upcoming changes happening to our school to help provide more safety measures at our school
  • If you did not receive this pink notice, please ask your child’s teacher for another copy as it pertains a lot of important information on the changes we are making
  • This will have an impact on those families who drop off lunches every day to their child

Lunch Lady

The district is moving in a direction where all students will be able to access food through a program called the Lunch Lady

  • This is a program that is available for all students in our school who are interested in having basic lunches bought everyday
  • It will work similarly to hot lunch (which will continue as our school fundraisers on Thursdays)
  • Information about this and how to sign up for your child was on the backside of that pink notice that went home this week

Freezie Sales

  •  Freezies will be sold every Tuesday at 12:15 for $2.
  • We are working on designing a mural for the front of the school and we are also trying to create an outdoor education program where we can have more opportunities to take our learning outside!
  • We truly appreciate the support behind our school fundraisers!

District Communication

  • We are excited to share that the City of Delta is celebrating local youth this spring with Youth Week and the highly anticipated Youthapalooza!
  • From May 1–7, Youth Week will feature a variety of free, youth-focused events at Delta recreation centres. These activities are designed for youth aged 10–18 and celebrate the important contributions young people make to our community. In addition to the main week, there will also be lead-up activities offering something for a wide range of interests.
  • The celebrations wrap up with Youthapalooza on May 8, a fun-filled event you won’t want to miss!

The Delta School District is offering a free, enriching program for families seeking to support their child(ren) in strengthening Literacy and Numeracy foundational skills. These programs are available for students entering Grades 1–7. Students may only register for one session.
