Did you know that the Jarvis Elementary School library has over ten thousand books?
As you might imagine, finding a book in the library could be very challenging. For this reason, the library has been very carefully organized.
In fact, our library is organized in two ways.
First, it is organized in a general way into 5 sections:
- E Fiction Texts
- Fiction Texts
- Information Texts
- Reference Section
Second, each section is further organized in a unique way:
The Fiction Texts are organized alphabetically by the first three letters of the author's last name. If you are looking for a book written by J. K. Rowling, simply look for the shelf that contains ROW.
The Information Texts and Reference Section are organized using Dewey Decimal System.
The Periodicals are organized into bins by title.
Use the links on the side to practice organizing books alphabetically or to learn more about the Dewey Decimal System.
